Several years ago, I happened to be enjoying a peaceful walk on a fine autumn morning in Pleasant Hill, California when I passed a gentleman who seemed to be consumed in anguish. The expression on his face said it all. I could not help but feel compassion for the person and share some human, heat-felt empathy. I am sure every one of you have met someone at some time in your life who appeared to be on his last leg. You could not help but feel for the person, could you? I believe it goes something like, “but for the grace of God, there go I”.
